Bivouac Night Navigation Series 2010

Night Navigation Series is ON this Wednesday September 22nd starting at the Spencer Park picnic area! (Heyders Rd)

Don't miss it! It's lots of fun in the forest especially when there are plenty of other people there with you! There is always a lot of discussion afterwards on who chose the best routes. Many of the controls are on tracks for beginners, and some in the forest for the intrepid.

Night Navigation proceeds are usually used to support Southerly Storm travel to Superseries events. However this year one night's takings will be donated the Earthquake appeal fund. Come along to support two worthy causes.

Welcome to the homepage for NIGHT NAV, the Adventure Navigation series of races organised by the Bivouac Outdoor Southerly Storm orienteering team. NIGHT NAV has been running since the turn of the century and has returned for another year!

NIGHT NAV events are normally held in Bottle Lake Forest on the edge of Christchurch. Competitors walk, run or bike through the forest collecting checkpoints, which are shown on the map handed out just before the start. Runners and walkers can cut across the forest, through the sanddunes...while the bikers explore the network of single tracks.

All competitors have an hour to collect as many checkpoints as posible before returning, often in a rush, to the finish. You can compete in teams or individual, its a great social adventure. Get some friends together and give it a go! Thanks to Bivouac Outdoor for helping us to keep this event going!

Registration will be from 6:00pm, with a short briefing and the map distribution at 6:45pm. The race will then begin at 7:00pm

The three events in 2010 will each be starting from a different entrance to Bottle Lake.
